Tailored Fall Content Ideas for Practically Any Business
Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... |
Are you already tired of making posts about candy, Halloween, and falling leaves? Do you not work in an industry that’s naturally conducive to fall/autumnal marketing and posts? That’s perfectly understandable. Here at our Los Angeles digital marketing agency, I create content for plenty of attorneys, rehab treatment centers, and other companies that do not require writing or videos about candy corn. That said, there are plenty of ways that you can have topical content involving fall that fits your industry.
As with all of my advice, you may have to do some adjusting on your own to find how it best fits for you. Or, even better, you may read this and then it jogs something else in your mind that helps you to make this a better fit for you. After all, that’s part of how I found all of this in the first place.
Autumnal and Topical
Even if your industry doesn’t deal so much with fall, there’s probably something going on that can fit your business in your content.
For example, as mentioned, I create content for many personal injury attorneys. Much of their work is helping victims of car accidents, representing them so that they receive the compensation that they deserve.
So, while writing about candy may not fit, there’s plenty that does. To wit, this time of year, many student drivers are driving to school for the first time. College students are returning to school, and so forth. My clients appreciate content about teen driving statistics, safe driving on the road, what to do to stay safe, etc.
That’s just one example. There are many others. Even if your content isn’t going to be designed around fall and autumn, you can still use what’s topical, what’s in the news, what’s of “right now,” so to speak, to boost your content.
“It May Be Fall, But…”
Fall means, obviously, colder temperatures, perhaps more precipitation, etc. Fall is a time of change. That means many of my clients need new content that reflects that. Of course, that doesn’t mean that everything changes. You can find plenty of content with the idea beneath it of “it may be fall, but…”
Essentially, you’re saying: “yes, fall is here, but that doesn’t mean that everything has changed. Here’s some things that haven’t.” That doesn’t mean you have to make an entire blog or video about this. Rather, it can even be a paragraph, a section, or even a line.
But, what I know about this industry is that some things add up. If you have one small idea and one small idea, in time, they’re going to add up. The more ideas you have, the more (and, I’ve found, better) content that you can make.
Promotions Galore
Yes, you can just do the fall and autumnal promotions. There’s nothing wrong with that. Even if my clients don’t do anything with Halloween, anything with fall, the leaves, etc., so many of them have costume contests. They have a day where everyone comes to work in a costume, etc.
That can make any number of posts, videos, and the like. If nothing else, it can show the “human” side of your company. For the most part and with some exceptions, customers/clients like to know that the people they’re doing business with are just like them. This gives you a chance to put a human face on your company (even if, in the pictures, you’re wearing a mask).

What Are You Dealing With?
Whenever I’m stuck for content, no matter how my clients are or what industry they’re in, I start asking myself: “what struggles would their customers be dealing with right now?” Then, from there, I can make content that specifically speaks to that, providing solutions.
You can do the same. You know your industry. Ask yourself: what are your customers having problems with right now? How would you solve it? This can (and most likely will) touch on fall, autumn, etc. You might even ask yourself: “what am I struggling with right now?” That can help to set the baseline for better content, too.
You Know What’s Next
Of course, fall eventually will give way to winter, to the holidays. Those are always looming over the horizon in fall. So, you can just start on your holiday marketing. I myself was at a supermarket on the first Wednesday in August and they had their Halloween candy out. There’s nothing wrong with starting your holiday marketing early. After all, just about everyone else will, too.
That doesn’t mean that you have to start saying “Happy Holidays” on October 1st. But, it does mean that you don’t have to wait until Thanksgiving (or even halloween) to begin your Holiday marketing. Many, many others in a wide range of industries do not wait that long (to say the very least). If you find yourself saying: “it feels like they start the holiday marketing earlier every year,” then it might be time to get going.
