Marketing Techniques You May Have Overlooked

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

This is the time of the year when many LA SEO service companies write about “what you can look forward to” in the new year.

It’s also the time when many also write “marketing techniques that were overlooked” articles.

To “overlook” something means “to fall to notice, perceive, or consider.”

Indeed, that’s a major reason that clients hire us. As it’s our job to know this stuff, they don’t have to worry about “overlooking” anything in regards to their online marketing.

I thought of that when I read this great article this morning.

So many of their points are well-taken. Many did truly “overlook” how content did stay king in 2020 and that brand values were centered more than ever.

In working with our clients, there are some techniques I’ve found that small businesses may have overlooked.

Marketing Emails Can Be Sent for Just About Any Reason (Except for One)

You don’t need me to explain how important email marketing is.

(I feel like I’ve already written dozens of blogs about that already.)

However, one thing I have found is that folks are still unsure where to start with email marketing. They know that it can grow their business, but don’t know where to begin.

The truth is that you can send a marketing email based around just about anything.

Sending one because a potential customer clicked on something but didn’t buy, letting a customer know about new products, sending them for the customer’s birthday, upcoming holidays, events like graduations or even sporting events – those are just some of the many different reasons that you can send a marketing email.

The only thing you can’t do is to say “hey, buy this.”(Although, “exclusive offer” emails are fine.)

For example, studies have shown that “birthday emails also achieve far higher transaction rates (481 percent) and revenue (342 percent).”

Sending folks on your list an email every now and then with some deals or discounts may not hurt, but it sure won’t grow your company. By always having some reason to reach out as well as something to offer, you can really drive sales this year and beyond.

The Power of Small, Simple Things

To me, that might be one of the most overlooked things in marketing.

Little gestures matter.

If you’ve read these blogs before, then you know how important it is to do some good in your community.

However, little changes in your marketing and content can make a big difference, too.

For example, it’s almost invariably a good idea to have pictures and videos in your social media, emails, blogs, and more.

However, if you haven’t already done so, it can be a really good idea to use pictures that speak to our current reality.

Folks might have a negative reaction (even unconsciously) to pictures of people meeting in large groups or being around others without a mask. Showing people in small groups (or even alone) in masks doing just about anything can forge a better connection to your customers.

This isn’t applicable to every business, obviously, but making little changes like this can show that you really are listening to your potential customer base. This is real “a picture says a thousand words” kind of stuff.
