Magento Community Version 2.0 Released
Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... |
Magento Community Version 2.0 has finally been released, after several years of development. Both the Enterprise and Community editions are impressive. However, it may not be used by many of the top eCommerce sites this coming Black Friday because it’s been released just a week before the holiday season.
But most sites will surely upgrade to this latest version next year. In this new edition, it features full-page caching. This means that the system will build all pages in a static file system. In this way, page loading time will be reduced significantly.
The latest feature also comes with a streamlined checkout process. The checkout process will assume guest checkout. For existing customers, they don’t have to log out and remember their password.
Choosing the credit card type is also removed. It’ll just figure out what type of credit card you’re using based on the first digit you’ve entered.
Table locking is no longer an issue, especially if there are too many people placing orders on your site.
If there are hundreds of people checking out per minute, your system will no longer crash, unlike before. The Magento community has promised to reduce this kind of issue considerably.
Scalability
It’s more scalable than before. The latest edition is highly suitable for retailers of all sizes. Small retailers using the Community edition can easily operate knowing that the platform they’re using allows them to grow considerably.
Because the Magento Community has different solutions, retailers can grow easily with the help of third-party software that they can integrate with their platform.
Functionality and features
One of the best things about Magento is that it has lots of functionalities and features out of the box. When you’re running a standard online business shop, you’ll have everything you need. You’ll also get a flexible product catalogue.
How about data migration?
On its version 2.0, Magento Community offers data migration tools that can help you easily move CMS pages, EAV tables, URL rewrites, customer passwords, and more. Extensions, however, will have to be re-built or re-downloaded. You’ll also need to rebuild your design themes and customizations according to the latest framework.
As always, Magento Community will have a huge worldwide developer following. These developers can spot common issues and try to fix or document them. With a great following, store owners can easily overcome issues without having to use a consultant.
