Los Angeles Web Marketing Tactics Most Don’t Utilize

Every time we sit down with a business owner for a free consultation and digital marketing audit, they show us what they’re doing. Often, they’re doing some things well. Sometimes, they’re doing a lot of things well. However, almost invariably, there are things they aren’t doing which they could be. These are some of the tactics our Los Angeles web marketing company uses for our clients to put them over the top.

They might not all be applicable to your company but many of them are going to be. In one form or another, there is some way to use these to boost your business.

Reviews Matter, Yes, But So Does Your Response

You don’t need me to tell you how important online reviews are. Yes, they’re critical to your business and yes, good ones should be utilized in your marketing. However, you have to make sure to respond to your reviews.

You’ll note that I didn’t specify how many of your reviews, I just said “your reviews.” That’s because you need to respond to as many as possible, if not, ideally, all of them. Good and bad. Sure, it’s a blast to respond to the good ones. Thanking the reviewer, telling them how much you appreciate them/their business/etc.

But, you want to respond to the bad ones, too. Never defensively. Never from a place of hurt. “Lashing out” won’t help your business. But, responding to bad reviews so that you’re committed to getting better. Responding to good-faith negative feedback can go a long way for your business.

It shows to anyone that might come across a bad review that you are good at what you do. When I wrote “never defensively,” that doesn’t mean “don’t provide context.” If you believe there’s something wrong with the negative review, point that out in your response. Always, however, do so in a constructive, positive, gentle, and human manner.

This is all provided that the negative review is in good faith. If it isn’t, or if the person hasn’t used your business/service/is a bot or something else, get that taken down immediately. Google, Yelp, and other organizations are usually good about this. Indeed, this is one more service we provide for our clients at Website Depot – fighting to take fraudulent reviews down.

New Content From Old Places

I create a lot of content for our clients. Between myself, the other writers, our video marketing team, and others, much of what we do is content creation. That said, some of the best, most effective content creation isn’t done from scratch. No, that doesn’t mean we write it with AI. Instead, we take the content the client already has and either bolster it and/or improve it.

For example, when I sit down to write for a new client, I look at what they already have. Often, they have at least a home page, some blogs, and so forth. Even if they don’t have that, I’ve met with them, taken notes, seen how they answered our questionnaire, and so forth. Then, I build on what they’ve written. You can do the same for your company.

Why? Because this can allow you to reach new customers in new ways. For example, many of our newer clients that are established businesses are often amazed at how much their “old” content can be recycled. Those blog posts that ranked very highly a few years ago can be rebuilt into some fantastic TikTok posts, Instagram Reels, and the like.

You don’t need to film them, of course (even though video marketing can work wonders. Instead, you could take those old blogs and rewrite them, incorporating new information/updates in your industry/etc.

That way, you’re never “starting from scratch,” not really. If it feels like it takes a while for you to generate ideas, this is a way to do so quickly.

Doing It All Yourself Isn’t Really Doing It

Many of our new clients aren’t really “new” to digital marketing, social media, and so forth. But, they have tried all of those before, only to find that the results were less than they would have liked. This, too, makes sense. Even in our digital age, most don’t start their business so that they can build a website, social media following, etc.

By outsourcing this to a team of professionals, you’ll get, well, a team. Moreover, you’ll get an experienced team. It’s not just you and your employees trying to find your way through it, all of which will most likely take you away from your work responsibilities. By working with the pros, you give yourself the best chance to succeed.
