Know the Audience for Your Content
When you create content, who’s it for? If you’re like so many rehab/addiction treatment centers, the first answer is, of course, “people who need help.” That makes all the sense in the world. That’s who you want to create much of your content for. Someone begins to realize that they have a problem, searches online for help or even more information, and finds you. That’s how it often (but not always, or even a majority of the time) works.
Create content for the loved ones of someone who needs help, too. If it’s been a while since you did so, you should get on that. As you know, so many times, it’s concerned family members, friends, and others who first reach out to facilities like yours. So, you want to make sure that you have content that can reach them, too.
Now, this is another area where keyword research is so crucial. The keywords that a family member/friend would use are often different than someone struggling with addiction themselves would use. For example, a person battling a problem might search for: “addiction treatment center near me,” “how to tell if I have a problem with alcohol,” and so forth.
But, a family member might look for something like “how to tell someone you love that they have a problem,” “signs that a family member has an addiction,” etc. You want to make sure to put out content that connects with more of your perspective admits, yes, and that means reaching out to their family members, too.
Social Media: More Important Than You May Think
Social media marketing, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and even TikTok, isn’t necessarily an SEO ranking factor exactly. But, if you want a successful omnichannel digital marketing strategy, you’re going to want to include well-executed social media into it. Social media is important when you’re marketing a rehab/addiction treatment for many reasons, not the least of which is that it gives prospective admits a better opportunity to connect to you.
When someone is looking for information about rehab, worried that they (or someone they care about) has a problem, they often do it somewhat furtively. They may not want others to know, so they might not click on a website that could be seen over their shoulder, and so forth. However, social media gives those who are more reticent or even shy about the process one more way to connect to you.
We can’t tell you how many of our clients have told us about prospective patients reaching out to them through direct messages on social media, where family members/friends/co-workers and so forth couldn’t necessarily see. It makes for a safer, easier way for people to do one of the most challenging things they ever will: reach out to rehab facilities.
“Show Don’t Tell” is Crucial
Written content is crucial for addiction treatment centers. Written content, in the form of blogs, landing pages, service pages, and the like, establishes you as an authority. It lets folks know that they can trust you, that you have the information they need, and that you’re in a position to be able to improve their lives and/or the lives of someone that they care about. Yet, written content isn’t the only kind of content your rehab treatment center needs.
Indeed, you’re also going to want video content, perhaps even podcasting, and the like. When someone decides to go to a rehab/addiction treatment center, it’s personal. They need to know that you’re going to be able to help them with everything that they need. So, you’re going to want plenty of pictures, plenty of videos, showing your facility, your amenities, and more. You know how great your facility is; give other folks an opportunity to discover that for themselves.
Moreover, you’re going to want to do the same with the staff. Short videos with your staff members, even if it’s just talking a little about themselves and what they’re into, can go a long way. We don’t need to tell you how scary it can be to go to rehab, to leave your life all at once for a difficult (yet rewarding) journey with an uncertain destination.
But, by being able to see your staff, to interact with them, can go a long way towards establishing an emotional connection, a real bond, with both people who are in need of help and those who care about them.
