Well, for one thing, they can make a first impression. They can do that before you even click on the site. 

In fact, in many cases, they could be the determining factor in terms of whether or not a person actually does click on a site. 

When someone searches on Google, the Title Tag will pop up. 

At Google, they know this, which is why they’ve made them a ranking factor. They aren’t “the” ranking factor, nor are they only ranking factor. But, they’re one more thing to keep in mind when trying to make your company rank that much higher. 

The stakes are high. 

However, they aren’t set in stone. 

Title Tags aren’t the kind of thing that you write once, and then that’s it, you’ll never get another chance, if they don’t do well you have to fold your company, etc. 

You can change Title Tags whenever you’d like. 

This is great for any number of reasons, not the least of which is that it makes it easy for you to test them. You can see which ones succeed. Also, you can see which ones don’t. From there, you can make decisions about what’s right for you.

You can make your Title Tags to be essentially anything. But, you want them to stand out. No matter what your company does, how successful your business is, or anything else, you need to do something to differentiate from the rest.

Title Tags can do that. 

Of course, they can also make you just blend in with your competition, too. 

Unsure how to stand out? 

One effective way: promise something. 

That doesn’t mean that you have to do explicitly: (“we promise if you click this link you’ll make money”) or anything like that. But, promise that if someone clicks on your site, you’ll meet some emotional need of theirs. You’ll be able to help, you’ll surprise them, give them a laugh, let them know it’s going to be all right. 

We’re all looking to have our emotional needs met. 

That’s true whether we’re looking for “diesel engines online” or “pizza delivery near me” or anything else. 

If you can meet someone’s emotional needs, while giving them a bit of a twist or surprise on what they might expect, then your Title Tags will be well-constructed.
